Course Open

Despite the blustery skies and a touch of rain, West Lancs welcomed a spirited group for the Ladies’ Mixed Foursomes on Sunday 19th October. While the weather may have discouraged a few, eight determined teams braved the elements and took to the course—proving that a little wind never dampens true golfing enthusiasm.

Once play began, spirits lifted and the conditions turned out to be more forgiving than feared. Laughter echoed across the fairways, and camaraderie carried the day. After the final putt dropped, players gathered in the clubhouse for a well-earned reward: another delicious carvery that warmed everyone up from the inside out.

On the 6th hole, Tony Morrissey claimed the men’s nearest-the-pin honours. The ladies, however, faced a gusty challenge on the 17th—so fierce that not a single ball held the green!

Ian and Jane Douglas secured second place with a solid 31 points, but the day’s champions were the Men’s Captain, Cian McCaul, and Martine, who defied the wind to post an impressive 34 points. A fantastic effort in testing conditions!

With the winter ahead of us, we now look forward to Easter 2026, when the first bank holiday mixed event will tee off. Until then—rest, recharge, and enjoy winter league!
