Course Open

The year got off to a flying start with the Easter Bank Holiday Mixed played for the handsome Audrey Brownill Trophy. A couple of lovely spring days on Saturday and Sunday had us all hoping that the sun would shine on Monday too. Sadly it turned out to be a cold wet day cheered somewhat by a visit to the Ladies’ Locker room from the Easter Bunny.

Our spirits weren’t dampened  and a good field completed 18 holes with some pairs recording exceptional foursomes score. Julie Cooke and Earle Garner had the best score of the day of 50 pts but they were ineligible to win the Audrey Brownill Trophy. That honour fell to Karen Lane and Barry Joughin with 44points who received the  trophy from the Gentlemen’s Captain. Close on their heels, after a back 6 count back, were Janet and Tony Morrissey with 42pts.

Congratulations to them all and to Tony Morrissey who checked the cards and orchestrated the prize presentation.

I am happy to report that all partnerships and marriages survived the first mixed competition of the year.  We feasted on a delicious carvery supper thanks to our catering staff, and I hope you all enjoyed your day.

Those who do not play in mixed events are always welcome to give their support by attending the meal afterwards. Please sign up for Mixed competitions both golf and meal on the Link Corridor Notice Board.
