LADIES AUTUMN SUPPER & PRIZE GIVING REPORT - FRIDAY 25th AUGUST 2026 : West Lancashire Golf Club

LADIES AUTUMN SUPPER & PRIZE GIVING REPORT - FRIDAY 25th AUGUST 2026

The Autumn supper and prize presentation this year followed a keen season of competition during the glorious summer months. Up to 70 ladies attended the Autumn dinner and were treated to a delicious and superbly presented menu prepared by Jess and her team.

Lady Captain Alexia Gilby gave an enthusiastic speech at the end of the dinner about the summer activities and events to look forward to in the coming months at West Lancs.

Friday was the day that Claire Dowling became the first female Captain of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club at St Andrews. This is a legendary first in the history of golf and our own LC encouraged us all to applaud this monumental event. As Captain of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club at St Andrews, Claire will be an ambassador for the club and The R&A, engaging with members around the world and championing the sport as the R&A brings its new ‘Opening Golf to the World’ strategy to life.

Closer to home we have our own star to recognise and applaud. Zara Holmes turns professional on the 1st October and will be joining The Tommy Fleetwood Academy at Formby Hall from that date. LC asked us all to join her in congratulating Zara on her achievements and to wish her luck in her new career. We all agree that Zara is an impressive young ladies and will be following her career with great interest going forward.
