So the sun was out and the wind was doing its absolute best across the links at West Lancs for our latest invitation day - but what a brilliant day it turned out to be. The breeze definitely didn’t manage to blow away anyone’s enthusiasm.
We had 30 guests, so 30 cards taken out, and the twotee start worked a treat. It meant everyone was coming back in around the same time for lunch, which made the whole day feel nicely connected. We had clubs from all along the coast represented… and even one guest who’d travelled all the way from Devon, which was lovely.
Out on the course, we had three twos:
Cath Morris and Liz Tough on the 12th
Gill Edwards and Moira Concannon on the 17th
Jackie Rooney and Jeanette Baines also on the 17th
Nearest the pins went to:
Christine Webster from Hillside GC on the 6th
Joan Durney from Formby Ladies GC on the 17th
The main competition was incredibly close. Three teams came in with 37 points, so it all came down to a back 9 countback:
3rd place: Lesley Ronald and Niki Mann from Aintree GC (37 points)
2nd place: Sue Clarke and Joan Durney from Formby Ladies GC (37 points)
And taking 1st place with 38 points: Linda Gaskell and Elaine Smylie from Formby Ladies GC
We rounded everything off with a fabulous lunch and prizegiving, and now we’re already looking forward to July - hopefully with slightly less wind and even more sunshine.
