Despite the promise of rain, the Easter bank holiday mixed for the Audrey Brown Hill trophy was played in sunny conditions albeit with a testing wind. 42 couples entered in what was for our new captain and Lady Captain the first introduction to the horrors of mixed foursomes . Nearest the pin for men was won by Terry Hurst and nearest the pin for the women was won by Anne Moore .
The were only two twos the captain and lady captain on the sixth and Linda Forsyth and Jerry Bown on the 12th both couples receiving a veritable bounty of 15 golf balls each .
In the main competition, third place went to Alan and Mary Barber with 39 points On a card playoff second we’re Carol Davis and Graham Tracy again with 39 The winners of the competition and the Audrey Brownhill trophy were Paul and Jane Finnegan with 44 points. Paul’s acceptance speech was well received.
The day was rounded off with a splendid carvery, enjoyed with good conversation and the usual lamentations of what may have been.
We now look forward to the mixed Greensomes at the May bank holiday.
