July – Bernard Darwin, correspondent of The Times, and the finest golf writer of his generation, visited and later wrote:-
“The West Lancashire Golf Club of Blundellsands is decidedly one of the more venerable English golf clubs since it was founded as long ago as 1873. The course lies on a noble stretch of golfing ground which is second to none, not even to the East Lothian or the country around Prestwick or Troon"
